Jackson County prosecutors charged a Grandview man with several serious felonies Friday in connection with a series of kidnappings and assaults, both sexual and domestic, against his girlfriend.
Dominique R. Harlin, 23, purportedly began beating the woman during a drive in south Kansas City on June 27. Prosecutors alleged that he also coerced her into withdrawing $300 from an ATM and abused her in a Clay County motel.
Harlin then allegedly returned with the woman to her home, where he held her prisoner for several days while sexually assaulting her.
Police learned of the incidents Thursday when the woman returned to work at a Raytown nursing home and told a supervisor, who contacted authorities.
“The victim was in fear of her safety as well as her children’s safety, so she did not immediately report the incidents,” Jackson County prosecutors said in a statement.
Harlin faces two counts of kidnapping, one count of second-degree robbery, one count of forcible rape, one count of second-degree domestic assault and one count of forcible sodomy.
