Two workers injured in a scaffolding accident in Overland Park fell 15 to 20 feet, according to the Overland Park Fire Department. An earlier estimate by the police department said the workers fell from a greater height.
The accident was reported at 2:48 p.m. Monday at an apartment construction site at 135th and Melrose streets. The scaffolding they were using had two legs that stand on the ground and are attached to the top of the building, the fire department said. A platform between the legs is raised and lowered with a hand crank. Witnesses said the workers were lowering the platform when it fell.
Johnson County Med-Act said the workers were transported to a hospital with moderate and serious injuries.
