As Kansas City continues its well-publicized cleanup before the All-Star Game in July, Keith Farrand hopes the Kansas City Royals baseball emblem near the Benton curve of Interstate 70 isn’t overlooked.
“Who is responsible for its maintenance and is there a plan before the game to make it the asset it is supposed to be?” asked Farrand, who is affiliated with Farrand Farms on Noland Road. The answer
The Missouri Department of Transportation says it isn’t about to whiff on this one.
A spokesman said MoDOT and the Royals are collaborating to freshen the display with an All-Star theme.
MoDOT has eliminated weed growth and will mow that area just before the Fourth of July, he said.
The Royals’ role, he added, is to paint an All-Star stencil there — as well as in the grass once the pre-July 4 mowing is completed.
The Watchdog says they ought to name a pitch after the Benton curve.
