After years of feeling slighted, residents of the Hickman Mills/Longview area of southeast Kansas City have a public pool of their own.
It’s called The Bay Water Park, and it’s no small thing. Features include a six-lane lap pool, zero depth entry leisure pool, water playground, family slide, Lazy River with waves, two tube slides and a swirl bowl slide.
At 4 p.m. Friday, Kansas City parks officials will dedicate the outdoor aquatic park, built for $7 million where a YMCA once stood at 7101 Longview Road.
The water park opens to the public on Saturday.
