Shawnee Mission East High School was locked down for more than an hour Thursday morning after someone brought an orange toy gun on campus.
Prairie Village officers began searching the school at 7500 Mission Road, next door to the police station, after the lockdown order came about 9:15 a.m.
Officials took the small, plastic toy that was in a student’s bag and lifted the lockdown at 10:35 a.m. after they determined there was no threat to safety. The gun was found among other toys.
Nobody was arrested.
