A man burst into a rural Leavenworth County home, shot one man to death and injured a woman before killing himself.
Leavenworth County Undersheriff Ron Cranor said the rampage occurred about 8:30 p.m. at 25016 164th St. just outside of Lansing.
Authorities believe the suspect had a current or past relationship with the daughter of the man he killed.
Cranor said the suspect forced open the front door and shot the man in the chest with a handgun. He was dead at the scene. The suspect also shot the daughter. She was taken to a hospital but her injury is not considered life-threatening and she was expected to be released tonight.
The victim’s wife and daughter were able to run out of the house. The wife was not injured.
Cranor said the suspect exited the back door of the house and shot himself. He was dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released any identifications. They were awaiting a search warrant for the residence.
