Four people participating in an Occupy KC march in downtown Kansas City were arrested for trespassing Wednesday afternoon.
The arrests occurred on AT&T property near Eighth and Locust streets and came after repeated warnings, according to a Kansas City police spokesman.
The arrestees told police that they intended to be taken into custody, and a news release sent out earlier by Occupy KC stated that they would be engaging in “acts of civil disobedience.”
Wednesday’s event in Kansas City was part of similar actions around the country described as “standing up to the corporations and legislators involved in American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).”
AT&T is among the corporations that provide financial support to ALEC, according to Occupy’s news release.
