Kansas City police today released the names of the city’s latest homicide victims.
Robert J. Burnett, 28, of Kansas City, was shot to death about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of a market at 43rd Street and Cleveland Avenue.
Police also released surveillance photos of two men they want to speak to in connection with Burnett’s homicide. If anyone recognizes the men they are asked to call the police homicide unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
The victim of the other homicide early Wednesday was identified as Anthony W. VanBuren, 29, also of Kansas City. He was shot in the 3300 block of College Avenue and later died at a hospital, police said. Officers responding to the scene saw a car speeding from the area. The vehicle crashed into a church at 3115 Linwood Blvd. The two occupants were arrested, but later were released.
Anyone with information about VanBuren’s killing also is asked to call the TIPS Hotline.
