After robbers stole his wallet early today, a Kansas City man drove after them to get his wallet back.

But when the victim got out of his car to fight the suspects, they stole his car, too.

The incident began about 5:45 a.m. in the 5900 block of St. John Avenue, where a 23-year-old man was putting oil in his car. Three armed men and one woman approached and stole his wallet from his pants.

They fled in a maroon car.

The victim told police he jumped into his own car and followed them. He rear-ended their car near Gladstone Boulevard and Sunrise Drive and the suspects got out of their car.

The victim got out of his car, fought the three male robbers and grabbed his wallet back.

The female robber, however, hopped in the victim’s car and drove away. The other three suspects got back into their maroon car and sped off.

To make matters worse, the wallet the victim had fought for was empty. The robbers had taken his $170 cash.

At least the victim was not injured, police said.
