Readers have responded with great kindness to the story of Zenia Acedo, a Kansas City, Kan., 19-year-old who has been left to raise her five siblings.

Zenia’s mother died of cancer in late November, a few weeks after giving birth to a premature girl. And the 19-year-old’s father was deported to Mexico shortly before the family buried their mother.

The infant, 4 pound 2 ounce Camila Olga Acedo, is still being cared for at Truman Medical Center.

People wishing to make financial donations to the family can do so through the Guest Services Department at Truman Medical Center.
