Kansas City police are investigating two overnight armed robberies that may be related.
Shortly after midnight someone robbed a woman walking on the sidewalk at Armour and Wyandotte in midtown. Authorities say the robber walked up to the woman, pointed a gun and demanded money. She gave him cash and he fled.
Then, just before 4 a.m., a man approached the front door of the AC Hotel Westport, 540 Westport Road. The night auditor allowed the man inside the lobby, where he produced a gun and demanded cash. The robber took money from the register and left on foot.
No one was hurt in either incident. It isn’t publicly known how much money was lost in either theft.
Police say the description of the suspect is similar in both robberies. They’re looking for an African American man in a white tank top and blue jeans.
