Firefighters searched along the Kansas and Missouri rivers for several hours Friday after a report that a man inside a truck was swept into Turkey Creek near the Seventh Street Bridge and Interstate 35.
Fire crews were dispatched about 11:45 a.m. Friday. They spoke to a witness who said the truck went into the water at the mouth of a tunnel that leads from the creek into the Kansas River.
The tunnel is about a quarter of a mile long, officials said.
Kansas City and Kansas City, Kan., fire crews searched a wide area of the Kansas and Missouri rivers downstream for several hours but did not find anything.
By midafternoon Friday, crews had called off the search.
