Westbound Interstate 670 on the east side of Kansas City's downtown loop has reopened after being closed for more than an hour following a crash involving several vehicles Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. near the intersections of Interstates 670 and 70 and U.S. 71. The highway reopened shortly before 2:30 p.m.
During the closure, traffic backed up along westbound I-70 headed into downtown while crews worked to clear the debris.
The Missouri Department of Transportation advised drivers to find alternate routes. However, the route is the designated detour while westbound I-70 over the Lewis & Clark Viaduct is being replaced.
Drivers were told to expect delays.
