A 30-year-old man is dead after he was thrown from a van he was driving in rural Miami County, Kan., early Saturday.
The deceased driver has been identified as George Miller Stanton, of Drexel, Mo.
According to the Miami County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called out to a one-vehicle crash at Metcalf Road and 319th Street at 1 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities said a 2004 Dodge Caravan was going southbound on Metcalf when it left the roadway and went into a ditch.
The driver, Stanton, was ejected, and the van rolled, trapping the driver under the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, identified as David Lee Miller, 31, was able to escape from the van and walk to a nearby residence for help, the sheriff's office said.
The crash is under investigation by the sheriff's office.
Miami County EMS and the Louisburg, Kan., Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
