Overland Park family rescued after taking shelter from floodwaters on roof for eight hours
An Overland Park family climbed to the roof of their house near the Blue River on Tuesday to escape floodwaters that surrounded their home. They were rescued after spending eight hours there. Video by Tammy Ljungblad and Rich Sugg
Speaking directly to family, Wyandotte County Sheriff Don Ash told them that Theresa King and Patrick Rohrer were peacemakers and heroes who died honorable deaths in the performance of the duty they loved and for the protection of the people.

During a Saturday press conference. Kelli Bailiff, of the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department, and Terry Zeigler, KCK police chief, spoke about the two deputies who were killed Friday while transporting an inmate.
