One person died in a chain reaction traffic crash Thursday on Interstate 435 in Kansas City.
Kansas City police said the wreck occurred in the southbound lanes of I-435 just north of U.S. 40 just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
Police said that traffic was stopped because of congestion when a Lexus sedan ran into the rear of a Nissan sedan. The Nissan then struck the rear of a Chevrolet.
The driver of the Nissan was taken to a hospital where that person was pronounced dead.
Police said the other drivers did not suffer serious injuries.
The name of the person who died has not been released.
