A family of five was displaced after a fire broke out Thursday morning in their Overland Park home.
No one was injured in the fire that was reported just before 7 a.m. Thursday in the 9000 block of Connell Drive.
One resident was home at the time and called 911 after smelling smoke.
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 10 minutes.
Fire damage was contained to the garage and the home’s exterior, but the rest of the house sustained smoke damage, according to Overland Park Fire Department officials.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
The Red Cross is assisting two adults and three children who live at the house.
