Authorities have identified a 30-year-old man who died Thursday after falling from the overpass on Interstate 435 onto the shoulder Interstate 29. He was John P. Houdyshell of Leavenworth.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls around 5:15 p.m. after Houdyshell fell from the overpass. Houdyshell was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. Deputies found a maroon 2013 Chevrolet Silverado on I-435 that had its engine running and was unoccupied, said Capt. Erik Holland.

Investigators have not determined whether Houdyshell’s fall was accidental. There were no immediate indications that foul play was involved in the incident. The matter remains under investigation, Holland said.
