The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
Freezing drizzle is expected to create hazardous travel conditions from mid-morning to late afternoon. Light icing could lead to slippery conditions later this morning and this afternoon.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has pretreated bridges across northeast Kansas in anticipation of the freezing drizzle, KDOT’s Kim Qualls said.
Kansas crews will be treating roads as soon as precipation falls, Qualls said.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has been monitoring road conditions all night and had not received any reports of problems in Kansas City and surrounding areas as of 7 a.m. Friday, according to MODOT’s Markl Johnson.
