A man hit by a car and killed Thursday night in Overland Park was identified Friday as Kevin Patrick Moroney.

Police said that Moroney, 52, of Overland Park, and a Kansas City woman were standing next to vehicle in the 8400 block of Tomahawk Road when a car driven by a 17-year-old boy hit them and slammed into the parked vehicle. The woman, identified as Maureen Hogg, was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The teen driver, who was not injured, was released to the custody of his parents. The cause of the crash continues to be investigated by the Overland Park Police Department’s traffic unit.
