WASHINGTON | President Bush said Wednesday he is confident he can work out a new security pact with the Iraqis before year’s end.
BAGHDAD | Iraq’s government decided Tuesday to formally ask the United States to reopen negotiations on a proposed deal to keep American troops here past the end of the year. The U.S. suggested it may not be ready to offer more concessions.
BAGHDAD | The U.S. military has warned Iraq that it will shut down military operations and other vital services throughout the country Jan. 1 if the Iraqi government doesn’t agree to a new deal on the status of U.S. forces or a renewed United Nations mandate for the American mission in Iraq.
