Kansas City streetcar gets branded

Some think it looks like a bug or a grill, but it’s really designed to brand the Kansas City streetcar. The Kansas City Streetcar Authority on Thursday approved the new logo and branding materials for the downtown transit project.

The Kansas City Streetcar Authority on Tuesday approved the new name, logo and branding materials for the downtown streetcar project.

Some think the brand icon looks like a bug or a grill, but it’s really adapted from the universal streetcar symbol. The project is also now officially named KC Streetcar. The branding program resulted from months of work by Willoughby Design Inc.

The icon and other materials are available at www.kcmo.gov.
