Missouri House endorses statewide rules for Uber, Lyft

The Missouri House gave its initial approval Wednesday night to a bill that would limit the ability of cities to regulate ride-hailing companies by creating statewide standards. The vote comes just weeks after Kansas City approved new rules applying to both traditional taxis and new technology companies such as Uber and Lyft that use smartphone apps to link passengers with drivers using their own vehicles.

Missouri House passes cap on lobbyist gifts and cooling-off period

The Missouri House signed off on ethics legislation that would cap lobbyist gifts at $25 apiece and ban lawmakers from becoming lobbyists for at least one year after leaving office. Those two provisions differ from the version passed by the Missouri Senate earlier this year, meaning differences would have to be worked out before it could be sent to the governor.
