KC students walk out of Gov. Jay Nixon’s speech in apparent protest of Ferguson shooting

A dozen students at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy stood and raised their hands during the speech. The students walked out of the speech shortly after it began. Asked about the incident later, Nixon said he understood the students’ concerns. Nixon was at Lincoln to recognize its status as a National Blue Ribbon School.

Democrat Claire McCaskill makes nice with Senate Republicans

When Democrats lost control of the Senate on Nov. 4, the U.S. senator from Missouri lost significant clout. But there’s a silver lining for McCaskill, even in defeat. She now is one of a handful of centrist red-state Democrats whose votes will be crucial to Republicans’ legislative agenda — or to Democratic efforts to block the GOP.
