After eight years as president of United Auto Workers Local 249, Jeff Wright on April 1 will take a quality control position at the Ford Motor Co. Kansas City Assembly Plant.
Wright, 45, has been a Local 249 member since 1991. Local vice president Eric Hall will assume the presidency of the union that represents about 7,700 members at the Claycomo plant, which makes the Transit van and the F-150 pickup truck.
“It was a tough decision to leave this job because I’ve loved it,” Wright said. “But my father did the quality job at the plant years ago, so I guess I’m following in his footsteps.”
