An annual golf tournament to enhance labor-management collaboration was held July 22 at Oakwood Country Club and drew 15 foursomes and a half-dozen volunteers, according to sponsors Cigna Taft-Hartley and Local 124 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
It was the 16th Annual Labor Management Council Craig Whitaker Memorial Cigna IBEW Local 124 Golf Tournament, also sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City, J.E. Dunn Construction Co., Pipefitters Local 533, Teamsters Local 838, Mark One Electric Co., the Carpenters District Council, Heavy Construction Laborers Local 663, Rockhurst University, Scout Investments, the Segal Co., SMACNA-KC, Turner Construction Co. and United Labor Credit Union.
The tournament is named for Craig Whitaker, a longtime Labor Management Council board member and tournament founder.Labor forum
The next Heartland Labor Forum radio show, at 6 p.m. Thursday, on KKFI, 90.1 FM, will discuss “Which Ex-Felons Can’t Get Food Stamps?” and “What Do You Mean You’re Closing My School?” It’s underwritten by Millwrights Local 1527 and Office Professional Employees Local 320, and will repeat at 5 a.m. Friday.
