A family financial funfest Sunday at Sporting Park will kick off a month of educational programs in the Kansas City area geared around money management.

Money Smart Month of Greater Kansas City is designed to promote and encourage financial literacy for all ages through classes, workshops and other programs. The event, now in its seventh year, is sponsored by about 20 organizations and companies, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, the Missouri Council on Economic Education, El Centro and the United Way.

Sunday’s Score Your Goals Financial Funfest at the soccer stadium at 1 Sporting Way in Kansas City, Kan., will be from 1 to 5 p.m. The free event is for both English- and Spanish-speaking consumers.

The featured speaker is Andres Gutierrez, who works with Dave Ramsey, the nationally known lecturer, author and founder of Financial Peace University. Gutierrez will speak in English from 2 to 3 p.m. and in Spanish from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Last year, Money Smart Month drew more than 12,000 people to more than 460 events. That included more than 7,000 students from 323 classrooms around the area.
