Kansas regulators fine two telemarketers

Buzz Marketing was ordered to pay $952,000 in penalties and fees for calling customers on the national do not call list. The company allegedly called at least 93 Kansas consumers in an attempt to sell them vacation packages in Branson. WordSmart agreed to a consent judgment and will pay $10,000 in penalties and fees. According to state regulators, the company was trying to sell software that would prepare students for standardized tests.
