Slump in stocks reflects perils facing the economy

Air strikes in Syria? A downshift in policy at the Federal Reserve? Another rancorous debt ceiling debate in Washington? Investors will have much news to deal with in September, a month that historically has been Wall Street’s toughest. But some analysts think that despite the uncertainties at hand, the economy and stock market will hold up to September’s threats.
