Kutak Rock law firm will move to Two Pershing Square

Kutak Rock has leased 33,000 square feet at Two Pershing Square at 2300 Main St. and plans to move its 50-employee local office from 1010 Grand Blvd.

The law firm, based in Omaha, has 38 attorneys in Kansas City along with support staff and has been steadily increasing in size and business, said managing partner Robert Keim. Key growth areas have been in public finance and real estate finance.

Keim said UMB had been a good landlord but the firm needs more space. He added the planned downtown streetcar line, which will have a stop at Union Station near Two Pershing Square, is an attractive feature.

“What’s exciting for me is the building is at the end of the trolley line,” he said.

Two Pershing Square also was recently chosen by the General Services Administration to be the new home of 900 employees now at the Bannister Federal Complex. That move is expected to begin late this year.

The Kutak Rock lease was negotiated by Greg Swetnam and Sharon Gartin of Kessinger/Hunter and Larry Glaze of Jones Lang LaSalle.
