Kansas has lured a Kansas City-based maker of wigs and hair extensions to cross the state line with 102 new jobs at stake.

HairUWear Inc. will move its offices, warehouse and distribution center to Lenexa, an announcement from the Kansas Department of Commerce said.

The company expects to boost employment by 102 in the next five years, the state said.

“The state of Kansas has created an environment that will allow HairUWear to continue to invest in our employees, our brands and our future. We are thrilled to continue to grow the HairUWear business in this thriving community and offer the people of Lenexa a place within our company,” HairUWear president Michael Napolitano said in the state’s announcement.

Company officials could not be reached Monday.

HairUWear operates at 5900 Equitable Road, near the Missouri River west of Interstate 435. Its new address will be 14865 W. 105th St. in Lenexa.
