Construction has begun on a $20 million research and education building in Gladstone that will provide space for the North Kansas City school district and Northwest Missouri State University.
The 90,000-square-foot Northland Innovation Campus, at Northeast 69th Street and North Oak Trafficway, is expected to be completed in May 2016. A second phase is also planned for a 50,000-square-foot building, according to CBC Real Estate Group.
CBC is part of the development team with McCownGordon Construction, Hoefer Wysocki Architects and BHC Rhodes.
The North Kansas City district will lease about two-thirds of the building for its gifted education program. The Maryville, Mo., university will offer several graduate and other education programs there.
