Brothers Jimmy and David Frantze have signed a lease in the new Plaza Vista, 900 W. 48th Place, just west of the Country Club Plaza. They hope to reopen JJs in late summer. About 90 percent of the former JJs employees are expected to rejoin the restaurant.
The metros first Skechers Factory Outlet Store is scheduled to open June 13 in Overland Park. In other news, Freddys Frozen Custard & Steakburgers plans to open another restaurant in Olathe, and Kiss co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have set an April 29 opening for Rock & Brews in Overland Park and a May 29 fundraiser.
The Myriad House Coffeehouse & Vintage Shop, at 4448 Bell St., sells coffee drinks and Italian sodas, as well as quiche, sandwiches from the Nutty Girl and pastries from downtowns Scratch Bakery + Cafe, along with gelato.
Rock & Brews plans an April 29 opening in Prairiefire, at 135th Street and Nall Avenue. On May 29, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley also will host a private luncheon for more than 100 wounded warriors, veterans and active military, as well as an evening gala that will benefit the Kansas City VA Hospital.

The Wichita-based chain is taking over the former Back Yard Burgers at 19020 W. 151st Terrace. The parking lot will be expanded and a double drive-through installed. An Overland Park restaurant also is scheduled to open in late July and a Lenexa location in late August.
The Florida-based company plans to revamp its restaurants at 2800 W. 53rd St. in Fairway and 12040 Blue Valley Parkway in Overland Park by late summer. The restaurants will be open during the remodeling. First Watch also plans to reopen its North Kansas City restaurant at 409 Armour Road by the end of the year.
Skechers USA Inc. will open its first area Skechers Factory Outlet Store. The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based company plans a June 13 opening for the store at 6740 W. 119th St. The store will carry Skechers fashion and lifestyle footwear for the family, as well as work footwear for men and women.

Three restaurants operating in freestanding buildings on the site — Olive Garden, Red Lobster and McDonald’s — also will remain open. MD Management, the owner and developer of the mall, said the closing would help move redevelopment plans forward.
Jose Peppers Border Grill & Cantina will open in the former site of The Café at Briarcliff Village. The local restaurant chain is remodeling the building at 4125 N. Mulberry Drive in the Northland shopping center. The company did not say when the restaurant would open.
