Grandview’s new Truman’s Marketplace may have snagged some significant tenants.
Truman Corners Shopping Center, at Blue Ridge Boulevard and Interstate 49, is set to be redeveloped as Truman’s Marketplace.
Now a sign in front of the center announces a summer 2015 opening for Truman’s Marketplace and new tenants — L.C.’s Bar-B-Q, Ross Dress for Less, Petco, T.J. Maxx and Shoe Carnival.
RED Legacy, redevelopers of Truman Corners, declined to comment.
Officials with the national chains couldn’t be reached for comment. However, L.C. Richardson confirmed that he had a signed lease for a new barbecue in Truman’s Marketplace.
Richardson founded L.C.’s Bar-B-Q, at 5800 Blue Parkway, in 1986.
He opened a second location in Lenexa in 1999. But in 2004 his rent increased so he closed the Lenexa restaurant.
Truman’s Marketplace offered the “right spot at the right rent.”
“I think we will draw from all around, Belton, Raymore, Kansas City, Johnson County,” Richardson said.
RED had previously confirmed that Burlington, which offers discounted family apparel and home furnishings, also plans to open in the center.
