A new Asian restaurant concept is opening in the Northland.
Q Hot Pot Japanese Fondue & Asian Tapas Bar plans to open in Zona Rosa, at 8610 N.W. Prairie View Road, in December.
Entrees will include prime rib eye, select sirloin, chicken, pork, lamb and seafood. They will be served with a plate of assorted vegetables, along with dessert.
Tapas will include spicy baked seafood, Asian wings, bánh mì, edamame, spring rolls, chicken lettuce wraps, seaweed salad, Cajun fries, sweet potato fries and calamari rings.
▪ Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced and fresh grilled subs, is opening in Blue Springs.
The new location, at 1209 N.E. Coronado Drive, is scheduled to open Nov. 19 with grand opening celebrations running through Sunday. Area franchisee Kevin Rohrbach plans two more metro locations.
Mike Spiegel Sr. was recently named area director for western Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. His son, Mike Spiegel Jr., owns the Jersey Mike’s Subs in Olathe.
Jersey Mike’s, which was founded in 1956, has more than 1,300 restaurants open or under development.
The company said it uses the freshest vegetables — onions, lettuce and tomatoes — topped off with “The Juice” blended red wine vinegar and olive oil, as well as premium meats and cheeses that are sliced on the spot, and in-store baked bread.
▪ The North Carolina-based Shoe Show Inc. plans to open a store in Independence Center on Friday.
The 7,449-square-foot The Shoe Dept., on the upper level near Sears, will sell shoes for the family, as well as handbags and accessories.
The company has 1,130 stores in 41 states under different brand names.
