Westport’s new Dempsey's Burger Pub softly opened for dinner-only earlier this week.
It plans to open for lunch starting Friday at 4120 Pennsylvania Ave.
The restaurant was founded in Lawrence in 2008 and now also has locations in Lincoln and Wichita.
Menu items include appetizers like chicken wings, beer cheese dip served with pretzel sticks and fries, and a Bacon Flight (thick cut bacon with 90 Shilling ale cheese dip, chipotle aioli and a Guinness reduction).

It also has entree salads — including a Burger Salad — and fish and chips.
Its specialty burgers include the Hot Hawaiian Kobe Burger (with pineapple jalapeno chutney and spicy sriracha aioli), the Portobello Burger (with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and basil pesto), the Buffalo Burger (with chicken breast, celery remoulade, blue cheese cream sauce and house buffalo sauce), and the Smoke Stack Burger (with smoked bacon and house barbecue sauce). It also has a variety of fries including duck fat fries and truffle fries.
Dempsey’s has spent the last few months remodeling the former Blanc Burgers + Bottles space. Blanc plans to concentrate on its location at 10583 Mission Road in Leawood, as well as other projects.
In other restaurant news:
▪ Ramchandra “Rambo” Sajnani has been in the restaurant industry for more than 25 years, mostly as a manager for Jack in the Box restaurants in California, as well as at Burger King and a stint with Denny’s.
“But no one was watching my back. I was making them rich but not getting rich myself,” he said.
On Monday, he plans to open his first restaurant, Rambo’s Chicken, at 2619 Independence Ave., in a former Texas Tom’s. It will serve a limited menu of chicken, burgers, fish and shrimp.
▪ Latino American Restaurant opened at 15014 E. U.S. 40 highway in early September. Maria Ramos, a native of El Salvador, said the pupusas are her most popular menu items. The menu also includes fajitas, burritos, tacos, chimichangas, quesadillas and wraps.
▪ Kabab & Curry Indian restaurant opened Monday at 15740 E. U.S. 40 highway, Suite A. Owner and chef Samuel Adams, a native of Bangladesh, is using some family recipes that he has made his own.
He said some customers have been in daily and the Kabab Platter, as well as the Chicken Tikka Masala, have been among the top orders. The menu also includes items like Lamb Dopiaza (described as a much loved British dish), Chicken Biryani and Vegetable Biryani, fish curry and Lamb Vindaloo.
