A little building on Prospect Avenue has been home to several restaurants, some that have moved on to higher profile spots.

Now a new operation has moved in, Mo’s Italian Spot — “Mo” for Monica Abato Malik who is using recipes from her Italian grandparents. Malik and her husband Raheem Malik opened the restaurant earlier this month at 5932 Prospect Ave.

“We thought we would offer something different, something that no one else was offering around here,” Raheem Malik said.

It serves sandwiches like a hot Italian beef, chicken spiedini, and Scimeca’s Italian sausage, as well as entrees like Shrimp Diavolo and spaghetti with meatballs or Italian sausage. The menu also includes fried chicken wings, chicken tacos, fish tacos and cheeseburgers.

The space formerly housed such operations as Lufti’s Fried Fish and Chicken, and Niecie’s Restaurant.
