The owners of delivery-only pizza operation, Downtown Pizza Co., are opening a dine-in and delivery location.

Joe Perez, who grew up in Overland Park and played for the Kansas City Chiefs, partnered with his longtime friend, Andy Skeen, to open the delivery-only operation downtown in fall 2013. It delivers pizza until 4 a.m. daily in a 7-mile radius of downtown.

Now they have taken a space at 900 W. 39th St. for a delivery and dine-in Downtown Pizza, which also will be open until 4 a.m. A June opening is scheduled.

Perez said Downtown Pizza focuses on local, fresh ingredients for a menu that includes specialty pizzas, wings and sandwiches.

He also is a co-founder of The Jacobson restaurant and bar in the Crossroads Arts District and he is a marketing consultant.

The new Downtown Pizza Co. joins the new Q39 barbecue in the strip center, which is just west of Southwest Trafficway.

Peanches restaurant formerly occupied the spot but Downtown Pizza is giving the space a whole new look.
