The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA) has named Alan Gaylin as its “2013 Restaurateur of the Year.”
Gaylin leads Bread & Butter Concepts, owners of several area concepts — BRGR Kitchen + Bar in Prairie Village and the Power & Light District, Urban Table in Prairie Village, Gram & Dun on the Country Club Plaza, and Taco Republic in Kansas City, Kan.
He will be honored at the annual inaugural ball for the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association and the Missouri Restaurant Association (MRA) on Jan. 11. 2014.
• A.J. Goss Distributor Inc. is the GKCRA’s “2013 Company of the Year.” A. J. Goss is a Kansas City-based full-line dairy distributor for Hiland Dairy Co. in Kansas City and other companies.
• Greg Hunsucker and Vita Totta of V’s Italiano Ristorante will be inducted into the MRA Hall of Fame. The restaurant is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
• Bob Hines, chief executive officer of Osage Marketing Inc., will receive the “2013 MRA Distinguished Service Award.” Osage Marketing is a food service broker based in Lenexa with clients in Kansas, Missouri, and southern Illinois.
Other awards will be announced during the inaugural event ball.
Bart Hickey, managing partner of The Capital Grille in Kansas City, is the incoming president for the GKCRA.
“I want to focus on getting our members more involved, working together on solving our common issues,” Hickey said.
Vic Allred, owner of Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen, is the incoming president for the MRA.
Allred plans to expand membership in the Missouri Restaurant Association’s new discounted insurance option.
