Sizzles BBQ Bar & Grill brings together two industry careers

New barbecue restaurant, sports bar and toy store for Shawnee, new seafood restaurant for Leawood and new pizza restaurant for Prairie Village.

Longtime friends Naim “Tony” Abdel-Jaber and Abdel Hasanin spent their careers in the restaurant industry. Now they’re opening a place together.

Sizzles BBQ Bar Grill, 10901 W. 75th St., Shawnee, is scheduled to open in the next couple of weeks.

Abdel-Jaber had owned a Mission restaurant with his brother before spending nearly a dozen years working for Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Hasanin had worked as a manager for several restaurants including Olive Garden and Old Country Buffet.

Sizzles will offer barbecue sandwiches such as smoked pulled pork, shredded beef, and sliced brisket, and its “signature” shaved prime rib philly steak sandwich. Other menu items will include burgers, soups and salads, entrees including baby back ribs, smoked chicken, smoked salmon and beef brisket, steak, kabobs and pasta.

It also will have a variety of appetizers such as mini steak burgers, Southwest egg rolls, frog legs, salmon cakes and shrimp scampi.

The partners have remodeled the 6,000-square-foot building, putting in handcrafted wooden booths and tables, a lounge area and TVs.

The building also has garage doors that open in nicer weather, and its own parking lot with nearly 100 spaces.
