Local artists, musicians and authors will sell their works at a new downtown seasonal pop-up store.

The KC Annex at the Garment District plans to open Nov. 1. It will be in the Garment District Boutique, at 1350 Main St., in the Power & Light District.

KC Annex will feature works from more than 30 local artists, musicians, and authors, including handmade scarves, jewelry, wooden bowls, steel furniture, lighting fixtures, housewares, prints, letterpress cards, books, CDs and more. Prices will start at around $10.

Even the shop’s retail displays were handcrafted by students from the Kansas City Design Center using recycled materials.

Amanda Graor, artist liaison and concept developer of the KC Annex, said the collective will give local artists more opportunities to sell their works since it will offer set hours and a set location through the holidays.

“There’s not really local art in the Downtown Loop where people can easily access it,” Graor said. “It’s a really good opportunity to show off local work to people who come down to the Sprint Center, the Power & Light District, and who don’t go out of the area.”

KC Annex will host events throughout the holiday season, including talks, live music and demonstrations. Shoppers also will be able to purchase a hand-crafted cocktail or a glass of wine from the full-service bar located in the center of the Garment District Boutique.

The Garment District Boutique is a collective of eight locally owned boutiques. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
