Two natives of Brazil plan to sell some of their homeland’s specialties in a new City Market shop.

Marco Rabello and Cristian Maciel will open Taste of Brazil Market later this month at 25 E. Third St. It will sell Brazilian beverages, chocolates, coffees, candies, clothing, jewelry, candles and art. Items will include fresh green coconut water, Brazilian pastries like pão de queijo (cheese bread), acai berry bowls and other acai products, sandwiches including sirloin, chicken and pork. The partners also plan to add catering services in October.

“People come to the City Market to see something different and we have stores here selling products from all over the world,” Rabello said.

About 11 years ago, Rabello came to the area on a full scholarship to play volleyball at Park University with plans to get his degree and then return home. A year later he recruited best friend Maciel to come to Park to play on the team.

Instead of returning to Brazil, they married area women and they are both now parents of two young children.
