Online lifestyle brand Thrillist has named Krispy Krunchy Chicken as the nation’s best fried chicken chain, saying its “perfectly seasoned and juicy pieces might be the most underrated item in fast food today.”
The menu also includes chicken tenders, sandwiches, Buffalo wings, Cajun fish and shrimp, Boudin Bites with rice and pork, jambalaya, peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, breakfast empanadas with eggs and chorizo, sausage and jalapeno, and blueberry biscuits.
But in stops at three locations this week, only one or two sides were available and they varied, from french fries to fried corn on the cob.
The Louisiana-based Krispy Krunchy Chicken got its start in 1989 in the founder’s convenience store chain and now has more than 2,100 locations in 39 states, including more than a couple of dozen locations in the metro. It does not charge franchise or royalty fees.
