After nearly 14 years separated by an ampersand, Reece & Nichols Realtors is coming together as ReeceNichols Real Estate.
The company’s name change further cements the 2001 merger between the J.D. Reece Co. and J.C. Nichols Real Estate, when Nichols’ parent company acquired J.D. Reece.
“We are ReeceNichols. We’re not Reece and Nichols, the two large real estate companies that merged,” chief executive Linda Vaughan said.
The ampersand doesn’t disappear. It’s moving off to the left side in a new logo.
Vaughan said it stays to remind customers of the company’s mortgage, title and insurance businesses along with all of its real estate agents.
Rebranding the company follows an extensive review last fall of all the company does. Vaughan became chief executive last August after serving as president since 2005.
The new name will appear in an advertising campaign, and the company has changed its website to www.reecenichols.com, dropping the “and” that had stood between the names online.
ReeceNichols has about 2,000 real estate agents in the Kansas City area. The Leawood-based company is owned by HomeServices of America Inc., which is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in Omaha.
