The Kansas City marketing company VML is Wendy’s new creative agency of record, the companies announced Wednesday.
VML has been Wendy’s digital agency since 2012 and now is responsible for full creative development.
The agency’s expanded work for Wendy’s will be led out of VML’s Kansas City headquarters. VML said Wendy’s, the world’s third largest hamburger chain, is one of the top 10 clients for its global network of 26 offices.
In the announcement, Wendy’s said VML’s expanded role shows the importance “of seamlessly integrated marketing programming that engages and inspires consumers across digital, social and traditional communications channels.”

VML’s work for Wendy’s has won several awards and most recently included creative development for Wendy’s new “Deliciously Different” campaign.
VML has worked with several consumer brands, including Kellogg’s, Kashi, Gatorade, Tropicana, PepsiCo, Colgate-Palmolive and Kimberly-Clark.
Jon Cook, VML’s global chief executive officer, said in the announcement: “We’ve always held the same values and beliefs when it comes to how to create impactful messaging. There is no ‘digital’ marketing — only marketing. Our results together have proven out the value of thinking differently.”
