10 local students place in SkillsUSA national competition

Of the 64 Kansas City area students who competed in this week’s SkillsUSA competitions, 10 were named national medalists.
Champions were announced at Friday evening’s awards ceremony at Kemper Arena. The area winners, with hometown, school and award:
Dustin Mortsolf, Lansing; Highland Community College Technical Center; college/post-secondary gold medal in diesel equipment technology.
Aaron Fible, Kansas City; KCK Community College Technical Education Center; college/postsecondary medal in major appliance and refrigeration technology.
Andrea Allen, Kansas City; KCK Community College Technical Education Center; college/postsecondary silver medal in nail care.
Christopher Moran, Plattsburg, Mo.; Hillyard Technical Center; high school gold medal in carpentry.
Joshua Gregson, St. Joseph; Hillyard Technical Center; college/postsecondary silver medal in firefighting.
Logan Blake and Brian Juhl, Hillyard Technical Center; high school gold medal in humanoid robotics.
Cooper Leabo, Lee’s Summit; Summit Technology Academy; high school gold medal in internetworking.
Christy Watts, Liberty; Northland Career Center; college/postsecondary silver medal in medical math.
Ryan Lundy, Savannah, Mo; Hillyard Technical Center; high school bronze medal in precision machining.
