Epiq Systems Inc. on Thursday announced the resignation of vice chairman Christopher Olofson, who has been with the company since 1988.

Olofson, the son of Epiq chairman and chief executive Tom Olofson, will officially leave the Kansas City, Kan., firm on June 30. He will serve as a consultant for six months and remain a director on Epiq’s board.

Epiq did not elaborate on Olofson’s planned departure. He was named vice chairman last month and has held several senior positions during his career there, including president and chief operating officer.

Epiq provides software for the legal industry, specializing in electronic discovery, bankruptcy, class action and mass tort administration services.

“Chris’ vision and long commitment have been integral to the company’s growth,” Tom Olofson said in a statement.
