ArtsKC Fund raises $519,000 in annual campaign

The nonprofit’s 2015 fundraising campaign brings to $4.1 million the amount given since 2007 to support arts organizations and artists in the Kansas City area. Over the years, the fundraising has been channeled in more than 600 grants to local arts organizations, programs, visual artists and performers.

Texas company asks Missouri for a rehearing on the Grain Belt Express

Nearly a month after the Missouri Public Service Commission rejected Clean Line Energy’s plan, the company has filed for another hearing. Clean Line wants to build a $2.2 billion transmission line to carry Kansas wind power across Missouri to Eastern power grids. Environmentalists support the plan, but farmers call it a land grab.

YRC Worldwide profits despite drop in revenues

The Overland Park-based trucking company had lost money in the second quarter of last year though it had higher revenue then than in the recent quarter. CEO James Welch said a more profitable mix of freight accounted for the improvement in profits and drop in revenues.

Carlo’s Copa Room closes in Lenexa

The Italian restaurant closed Sunday in the Hen House Marketplace at 14944 W. 87th St. Parkway, according to the management company for the center. The owners of Carlo’s couldn’t be reached for comment.
