Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure promises bigger changes

A second phase of cost-cutting promises to transform how Sprint does business more than changes it has made so far under Marcelo Claure. Expect more Sprint stores, more digital customer access to help and shopping as well as a budget-friendly network upgrade. The CEO says he doesn’t expect a “massive run of layoffs” this year after cutting more than 6,200 jobs.

Fresh Market closing in Overland Park’s Prairiefire

The Fresh Market was the first tenant to open in Prairiefire in mid-2013. The company plans to close 13 locations in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Texas, but would not confirm specific store closings in other markets. The stores could start a liquidation sale this week and are expected to close by May 18.

Public invited to vote on KC’s top development project this year

The Economic Development Corp. of Kansas City has selected 10 finalists for its 2016 Cornerstone Awards, which recognize investments in the city. The finalists will vie for four additional honors: lifetime achievement, innovation and “made in KC,” and a new people’s choice category introduced this year. Voting is open online for the people’s choice award through May 10.
