Is a new ‘Crossroads’ forming in North Kansas City?

Restless Spirits Distilling Co., an Irish-American whiskey distillery, and Chicken N Pickle, an entertainment complex with a chicken restaurant, pickleball and lawn games, both plan spring 2016 openings near Cinder Block Brewery. North Kansas City’s Dutchman Coffee Roasters also is opening a new coffee roasting facility in part of Cinder Block’s expanded space and plans to later have a coffee shop.

Sprint offers DirecTV customers discounts on phone service

AT&T, which bought DirecTV for $48.5 billion in July, has been promoting a bundle that knocks $10 a month off a combined bill for video and wireless phone service. For a single line, the value of Sprint’s promotion is about $50 a month. It’s Sprint’s way of offering DirecTV customers a bundle without actually owning a video company.

Manufacturing activity weakens in the region, KC Fed reports

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s monthly index of manufacturing activity posted a reading of -9 in August, down from -7 in July and equal to June’s -9. The index monitors production, new orders, employment, supplier delivery time and raw material trends in the Fed’s seven-state region that includes Kansas and the northern part of Missouri.
